Huawei has updated the affordable Phablet offering, the Huawei C199S which comes with slight upgrades over the original Huawei C199. One of the upgrade is the use a more advanced processor and the Gold colour option but the full metal unibody design is still retained.
The Huawei C199S features a 5.5-inch display with a resoution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8928) procesor which clocks at 1.5GHz with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB.
In the camera segment, there is a 13-megapixels main camera with LED flash and a front facing 5-megapixels camera for selfies and video calls. The front camera shoots 1080p videos and the front camera shoots 720p videos. The device supports 2G, 3G & 4G LTE networks and also has connectivity options such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, A-GPS/GLONASS/Beidou.
The Huawei C199S runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with EMUI 3.0 ontop and backed by an ample sized 3000mAh battery. It supports Dual-SIM functionality, measures about 7.6mm thick and weighs 167 grams in size. The device is available for a price tag of CNY 2300 ($370/€325) in China but there is no word on a global roll-out so that is highly unlikely.
