Micromax has partnered with Mediatek to announce the Micromax Canvas Fire 4G smartphone with MediaTek MT6735M processor in India. There is no word on pricing and availability but it could possibly be an online only affair.
The strategic partnership is directed towards increasing 4G adoption in India and there are also have plans to bring Micromax smartphone(s) powered by MediaTek processors that support 4G connectivity including Helio X10.
Commenting at the launch of Micromax Canvas Fire 4G, Micromax CEO, Vaneet Taneja said, “India is at the cusp of digital revolution and at Micromax Informatics we have been putting in concerted efforts to bring the best in class 4G LTE smartphones to take Internet usage to an unprecedented level. Today’s partnership exemplifies the same endeavor and we are delighted to partner with MediaTek for its Helio Family. We have always endeavoured to offer products based on certain needs of the consumer. Moving forward, we will lead the 4G adoption in the country by converting all our popular value Canvas series to 4G. Canvas Fire 4G is the first in a series of such launches.
Running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, the Dual SIM enabled Micromax Canvas Fire 4G features a 4.5-inch display, powered by a 64-bit quad-core Mediatek MT6753M processor clocked at 1GHz paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. For additional storage, there is microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to either 32GB or 64GB).
The device has dual front facing speakers, front facing 2MP camera for selfies and a rear facing 5MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash. As the name suggests it supports 4G LTE and applies to the LTE network bands in India – TDD B40 2300MHz and FDD B3 1800MHz.
