Micromax has launched its first 4G smartphone – the Micromax Canvas Knight 2 in the Indian market. The Dual SIM enabled smartphone costs INR 16,299 ($260) and would be available starting Wednesday. It is bundled with a free 4G Airtel SIM along with the Airtel 4G Double Data offer.
The Micromax Canvas Knight 2 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla 3 Glass protection; the phone has a metal frame around the body (on its sides) with a front and rear glass protection.
Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 615 processor (quad-core Cortex-A53 1.5GHz + quad-core Cortex-A53 1GHz) with 2GB of RAM. The total space of internal storage is 16GB but there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB.
On the rear there is a 13MP camera with Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor and 5-element lens; and on the front there is a 5MP camera with OmniVision OV5648 sensor and a 4-element lens. Connectivity options asides the 4G connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
There is also Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo WM8998 audio onboard which promises a very good audio experience. It supports Dual SIM functionality with 4G support on both SIM, runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2230mAh battery which is expected to provide around 335 hours of standby time, 7 hours 45 minutes of talktime.
