Available initially as a Closed Beta, Microsoft has officially made the Arrow Launcher available on Google Play Store for download by the general public. It joins the long list of apps from the Redmond Giant created specifically for Android.
The Microsoft Arrow Launcher is being positioned as a ‘simple and personal launcher’ which learns the habit of the user thus simplifying Android experience. Even though it can be downloaded around the world, it only has support for two languages – English and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).
The launcher has a people management feature, integrated reminders, Bing custom wallpapers, a customisable dock, widget and third party icon pack support, and a Recent Tab (which shows recent apps, dropped calls, photos and downloads).
It shows apps arranged based on usage, which means the most used one will be at the top and less used ones at the bottom and also lets users find “people who matter the most to you.”
The Arrow Launcher shows continues Microsoft’s quest of going cross-platform with the most recent one being Cortana app for Android (and iOS at a later date). There are several launchers in the market already, only time will tell whether Microsoft’s offering will gain the required traction.
It is available for free on Google Play Store and has been seeing good review so far.
