Microsoft Band 2 Fitness tracker goes official with Curved OLED screen

Microsoft has taken the wraps off its second-gen wearable – the fitness and activity tracking Microsoft Band 2. It comes with 11 sensors, has a curved OLED touchscreen display and a more sleeker body build. The Band 2 is on pre-order already and will arrive form October 30th for a price tag of $249.99.

The Microsoft Band 2 has a 32mm x 12.8mm Curved AMOLED touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and the body material is made from Thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanate (TPSiV). With Cortana onboard, the wearable can respond to text messages, send emails and reminders. 

Sensor options available includes – optical heart rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, gyrometer, GPS, ambient light sensor, skin temperature sensor, UV sensor, capacitive sensor, microphone and a galvanic skin response sensor and barometer.

These sensors help in one way or the other to help the Microsoft Band 2 fulfil it’s obligations of letting users reach your health and fitness goals – tracking heart rate, measuring sleep quality, calorie burn, and exercise. The fitness tracker also brings customisable notification alerts from your wrist. 

It takes things further with advanced integrated sport tracking for activities like Golfing, Cycling and VO2 Max estimation
algorithm. The Band 2 has a Li-Polymer battery that assures 48 hours of battery life, charges full in less than 1.5 hours and is charged by a custom cable connector.
