The last flagship smartphone from the Lumia line was made by Nokia before its mobile division was acquired by Microsoft. That being said, of recent the Redmond Giant has released several low-end and midrange smartphones which includes the likes of the Lumia 430, Lumia 530, Lumia 540 Dual SIM, Lumia 640, and Lumia 640XL.
According to the rumour mills, Microsoft has two flagship and two midrange smartphones in the works which would runs Windows 10 OS from the onset. While there are no definitive names for these devices – a widely tipped name for it has been speculated.
For the two flagship smartphones – they could be called the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940XL; the former is a standard smartphone with a 5-inch touchscreen display while the latter is a phablet with a 5.7-inch display.
Both devices could end up with almost similar specs as it is being tipped to sport a hefty 24 – 25MP rear camera, a 5MP (or higher) front facing sensor, native pen support, either hexa-core or octa-core processors and Windows 10 OS out-of-the-box.
The report also suggest specs features such as Iris Scanning and 3D Interaction for both devices. Both smartphones could be available as early as Q3 2015 as Microsoft is confirmed to be making the Windows 10 OS available to different vendors by the end of Q2 2015.
One of the two upcoming midrange can be said to be the Lumia 830 successor – the Microsoft Lumia 840. It will keep the same design as it’s predecessor, sport s a 5-inch touchscreen display, front facing 5MP camera, rear facing 13 – 14MP PureView camera and a better processor compared to its predecessor. The other midrange is the Lumia 740XL which could have a 5-inch or 5.5-inch display, a 5MP front facing camera and 13 – 14MP rear camera (no PureView this time).
Details are perhaps sketchy about all four devices as is their final product names; but they are definitely in works and we should have more information as time goes on.
