Microsoft has announced the Microsoft Hyperlapse, a new technology that allows users to make Time-lapse videos either by shooting directly from the app or from a pre-recorded video.
The app is available for Android and Windows smartphones; and also available on PC (Windows). While there is no version for iOS in sight, users on this platform are already taking advantage of the Instagram Hyperlapse.
Asides the Microsoft Hyperlapse app for Mobile, there is a Pro version – the Microsoft Hyperlapse Pro which is available in free public preview; this is targeted at the more professional shooters and serious video enthusiasts. The Microsoft Hyperlapse for Azure Media services also lets developers integrate Hyperlapse options into websites and apps.
The Microsoft Hyperlapse app is available on Windows play Store for any recent Lumia smartphones (Lumia 520,820, 920 are not listed) and Lumia with 512MB of RAM cannot run the app. The PC version needs nothing less than Windows 7 64-bit (and up) with at least 4GB of RAM (and up for longer videos).
The app for Android is still in Preview mode which means users need to join the Google+ Community before it can be used. It currently only supports the following Android smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4; Google Nexus , Nexus 6 and Nexus 9; HTC One M9 and One M8; and Sony Xperia Z3. The company has announced more smartphones would support the app soon.
