The Microsoft Mobile Oy (Oy in Finland means Ltd or Corporation) will be the mobile devices arm of microsoft and the current terms and conditions with suppliers and customers will not change pending the takeover. With Microsoft expecting the deal to close before the end of april, the official address of the business is moving from Nokia Headquarters on Keilalahdentie in Espoo around 1 km to 7 Keilaranta in Espoo.

Nokia had been rumoured to be working on a Smart Watch which was supposed to debut this Q3. Nokia will continue to operate its mapping and location business – HERE as well as advanced technologies.

Stephen Elop, who was then Nokia’s CEO (now heads Microsoft Mobile Division) hinted at the potential disappearance of the Nokia and Lumia Brand last October when he stated: ”What we have to decide is what the brand will be. Because we have not decided what brand will be dominant for smartphones, that’s work that’s still ahead. And of course the way we’ll go through that process is to assess with consumers what they respond most positively to, what conveys the best message and the best hopes of success.

Microsoft as a company, of course, has many brands: Xbox, Office, Surface and a variety of others. We have brands like Lumia. So we’ll need to decide what the next step is from a branding perspective; he continued.
