Italian company, Microtech has partnered with Jide to launch the first tablet in Italy running Remix OS – the Microtech e-tab 3G. The tablet can use different operating systems – either Remix OS, Android or Windows ; and it can also Dual Boot Android and Windows OS.
Microtech struck an agreement with Jide, the Chinese company behind Jide Remix Ultra tablet, to bring the Remix OS to Italy and is fully customised in the Italian language.
While the Remix OS is a forked version of the Android OS, it is designed to look like the Windows OS to provide a desktop experience. Another tablet already running the Remix OS is the Cube i7 Remix.
The Microtech e-tab 3G (or just the Microtech e-tab) like some sources call it has a premium looking sand-blasted aluminium body build and sports a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) QXGA IPS IGZO display with a pixel density of 264ppi and brightness of 300 lumens.
Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom Z3736F processor paired with 2GB DDR3L RAM and 32GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion – (up to 32GB in Android environment/up to 128GB in Remix OS and Windows environment).
The tablet measures 240 x 169.4 x 7.9 mm, weighs 498 grams, rear facing 5MP camera, front 2MP camera and is backed by a lithium ion 8000mAh battery. Asides having the normal micro USB port, the Microtech e-tab 3G has a single SIM slot for 3G connectivity, mini HDMI, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiD connectivity which allows it project footages on monitors.
The Microtech e-tab 3G is already available on pre-order from the cmpany’s website – www.e-tab.it with the price starting from €322 and rising up to €408 depending on the kind of OS configuration chosen. Shipments of the tablet starts on July 13th.
