Mid-range ZTE Blade A1 with Fingerprint Sensor costs Under $100

At an event in China, ZTE China officially presented the ZTE Blade A1 smartphone – a new member to the company’s Blade series of devices. It will go on sale on December 11th through in the country for a price under $100; CNY 599 ($94) for the China Mobile versions while the full Networks Version costs CNY 699 ($109).

The ZTE Blade A1 has semblance with the iPhone 5c with a glossy body and will come in a host of colour options including Blue, Gray, Green, White and Yellow. It sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with MiFavor 3.2 OS ontop.

Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Mediatek  MT6735 64-bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB. It has a Hybrid Dual SIM slot with Dual Standby and measures 142 x 70.2 x 8.9mm in dimensions.

For photography, the ZTE Blade A1 has a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and a rear facing 13MP camera with flash. Below the main camera is the fingerprint sensor which is the same used on the ZTE Axon, it performs different functions including unlocking the device in just 0.3 second.

Connectivity options onboard includes – 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro USB v2.0 port. It is backed by a 2800mAh battery which is expected to last up to a day of usage. For comparisons sake, the ZTE Blade A1 has the the Meizu M2 Mini and Huawei Enjoy 5S to worry about.
