YU Televentures (YU) has announced the YU YUPHORIA (YU5010) midrange smartphone, the name was chosen via a sort of fan poll. The YU Brand is a branch of Micromax which primarily focuses on smartphones which runs Cyanogen OS out-of-the box.
The company says it has filed for four patents for the smartphone which includes the antenna layout for LTE devices and the device is assembled in India. The device has a metal steel frame which is said to have undergone a series of process
The YU Yuphoria sports 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with a screen-to-body ratio of 67.1%, Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
On the front is a 5MP Fixedfocus f/2.0 camera for selfies and the rear camera is a 8MP AutoFocus f/2.2 camera with LED flash. The camera protrudes a little thanks to a feature called ‘Saturn rings’ which would now be present in most upcoming YU smartphone lineup.
As expected the YU Yuphoria supports Dual SIM slots, 4G LTE connectivity and runs on Cyanogen OS 12 which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. It comes with Wolfson audio chip which promises a very good sound quality and also the loud speaker on the rear dishes out up to 85+ dB of sound.
The device measures 142.38 X 72.96 X 8.2 – 9.35mm in dimensions, weighs 170 grams and is backed by a removable 2230mAh battery. It would be available exclusively on Amazon India for INR 7000 through a series of flash sales which starts on May 28th. Registrations for the device starts today at 5PM (Indian Time).
Alongside the Yuphoria smartphone, the company also announced the YuFit fitness band for around INR 1000. The device which is basically a fitness tracker which shows time, count the number of calories eaten, steps taken, tracks sleep as well as normal notifications. It can also be used to find the phone.
