Facebook has announced a standalone private photo sharing mobile app called Moments; it is already available for on Android and iOS in the US. The app is created by Facebook’s Creative Labs and would roll-out to more countries soon.
The basis behind the app is to make sharing photos privately among persons or group of persons. It also reduces the stress of having to go from one person to another to get photos of you with them or people coming to meet you for photos of them.
Moments app lets you share your photos with friends and also receive the photos you want from them. The app groups pictures based on where they are taken and also determines the friends that are in the picture using the facial recognition technology. Once this is done, the avenue to share as well as receive photos is privately established.
Like it’s mentioned earlier, the app makes use of the same facial recognition technology as the tag suggestions feature on Facebook. For those who want to share their photos with the world, the app allows you to connect to Facebook and Instagram which are hubs for that kind of exposure.
Once the pictures are synced, they are arranged and organised in one private place and you will be able to save pictures from other people’s sync to you on your phone’s camera roll. It is also able to search for specific pictures of yourself and your friends.
With the moments app, you no longer have to go around chasing people for photos you took of them or the ones they took of you; instead you will be able to share them privately amongst yourselves be it that wedding event, a night out or even a kayak trip.
