Motorola recently unveiled new flagships under its own branding – the Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge+. The new Motorola Edge family of devices is expected to deliver 5G performance, immersive display experience and large capacity battery. The Edge+ is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform while the Edge is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 mobile platform.
The Motorola Edge+ has a 6.7-inch Endless Edge display which wraps nearly 90-degrees around both sides of the device, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ support, in-display fingerprint sensor and 90Hz screen refresh rate. The curved screen and narrow width (Endless Edge display) allow one-handed use and the new Edge Touch offers new ways to interact with the device.
On the back, the device has a primary 108MP (f/1.8, OIS, EIS) sensor with 4x light sensitivity thanks to Quad Pixel technology. This primary sensor is paired with 8MP (f/2.4, OIS, 3x optical zoom) telephoto lens for high-res optical zoom, 16MP (f/2.2, 117O FOV) ultra-wide-angle lens with Macro Vision and an extra TOF sensor. It supports 6k video recording and has features such as video portrait mode.
The punch hole in the top front left corner holds the 25MP selfie camera while the water-repellent body combines 6000 series aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Edge+ packs 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.0 storage, 3.5mm headset jack, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G, USB Type-C port (USB 3.1) with DisplayPort and dual stereo speakers tuned by Waves. Power is supplied by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W TurboPower wired charging, 15W Qi wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
The Motorola Edge offers the same screen and audio experience; however, the main camera has been replaced with a 64MP main lens, sub-6GHz 5G and power is provided by a 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Both the Edge+ and Edge come pre-loaded with near-stock Android 10 and Motorola’s My UX allows users fully customize their experience using personalize, Moto Display, Moto Actions, Moto Audio and Moto Gametime.
The Motorola Edge+ will be available in Europe, UAE (Etisalat and du), Saudi Arabia, India and select Latin American markets. In the US, it is on sale exclusively on Verizon for $999.99 or $41.66 a month for 24 months while in Canada, it will be available at Bell, Freedom Mobile, Rogers and TELUS. The Motorola Edge will go on sale in Europe starting with Italy at a price tag of EUR 699. It will also be available in select markets in Latin America and Asia Pacific.
