Motorola Moto Edge X30 – World’s First Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Powered Smartphone

Earlier this month, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for premium smartphones at its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021. This premium 5G mobile platform with ARMv9 architecture and 4th-gen Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System has made its way to the Motorola Moto Edge X30 (and Moto Edge X30 Special Version) which is now available in China.

The Motorola Moto Edge X30 and Moto Edge X30 Special Version has the same features except for the 60MP (f/2.2, 1.2µm) selfie camera which is in the front notch which the special version has it under the display. The rear triple camera system includes a 50MP (f/1.88, OIS) main, 50MP (114^o FOV) ultrawide camera and 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. The front shooter can record 4K videos while the rear shooter can record 8K videos.

The device has a 6.7-inch FHD OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, up to 700 nits brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The rest of the specs include a 5G (NSA/SA), side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, USB Type-C port, IP52 rating and 5,000mAh battery with supports 68W TurboPower fast charging. It comes pre-loaded with Android 12 with MyUI 3.0.

Motorola also unveiled the Moto Edge S30, which is powered by the Snapdragon 888+ 5G Mobile platform and backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It packs a 6.8-inch FHD+ IPS display with 144Hz refresh rate and 576Hz touch sampling rate, 16MP selfie camera and triple camera system with a 108MP main shooter paired with 13MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth sensors.

Pricing and Availability

The Moto Edge X30 and Moto Edge S30 is available this December and pricing starts at CNY 3,199 for the former and CNY 1999 for the latter.
