HP has not directly released any smartwatch but it has teamed up with watch makers to lend it’s technology to premium traditional watches and lean them towards the smartwatch arena. This time around, the company has teamed up with Movado, to launch the Movado Bold Motion.
Swiss watch maker, Movado is the second company HP has worked with in a similar arrangement. Last year, it teamed up with Michael Bastian (MB) on the MB Chronowing smartwatch which is of course engineered by HP.
The Movado Bold Motion smartwatch has a premium body design and a mechanical watch face but don’t be fooled into thinking it isn’t smart. It is equipped with a pedometer for counting steps and offers notifications (for text messages, calls, emails, calendar appointment and social media).
The smartwatch is seamlessly compatible with Android (4.4+) and iOS (8+) smartphones and pairs to these devices via Bluetooth which triggers the smartness. The water resistant watch is backed by a battery which assures up to a week (7 days) of battery life.
It doesn’t have the liberty of having a touchscreen display or boot Android Wear OS, however, there are LED lights at the side that show the type of notifications coming in. Pricing for the Movado Bold Motion starts at $695.
