Showers of new Android Wear devices continued to pour at the Baselworld 2017 with the announcement of the Movado Connect. It is the first Android Wear powered watch from American luxury watch maker – Movado Group and is expected to go on sale later this year (Fall 2017), in five styles for men.
Priced starting at US$ 495, the Movado Connect as expected comes pre-installed with Android Wear 2.0 and the support for NFC means Android Pay is onboard (the watch should make mobile payments). It is also expected to arrive with the baked in virtual personal assistant – Google Assistant, which will in-turn combine forces with the Google Fit and Google Health.
The timepiece features always-on screen and has five specially designed, customisable watch faces based on existing watches faces from the Movado range and takes its design inspiration from the classic museum dial design originally made for the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Although without waterproofing, GPS and Heart Rate Monitor, the Movado Connect uses an edge-to-edge crystal display and different watch straps as well as bracelets will be available. It will also display notification and work with thousands of apps. The U.K, U.S, Canada and Caribbean are some of the markets the Connect by Movado will be available in.
