Mozilla ditches Google for Yahoo as Default Search Option on Firefox

Mozilla and Yahoo has entered into a strategic partnership which would see the Yahoo as the default search options for users in the US. The partnership as the official press release states has a Five-year and would provide better platform for product integration and distribution of opportunities to other markets.

As part of the agreement, Yahoo would develop an enhanced search experience for Firefox users in the US on both mobile and desktop by December 2014. Users outside the US would get the update by early next year. Users would still be able to switch to Bing, Google or DuckDuck as their default search option.

The strategic partnership however does not affect Firefox users in China and Russia where the default search engine is Baidu and Yandex Search respectively.
