Following the recent launch in South Africa on Vodacom, MTN will soon commence sales of the Tizen-OS powered Samsung Z2 in Nigeria. Although there is no word on pricing, the entry-level smartphone will be available from the network’s service centres in Ikoyi, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
The Samsung Z2 (or Samsung Tizen Z2, as written on the flier) runs Samsung’s in-house Tizen OS (version 2.4) and is the first from the range to support 4G connectivity, others being the Samsung Z1 and Z3. It sports a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA TFT display, Dual SIM slots and is backed by a 1500mAh Battery.
It is equipped with a 1.5GHZ Quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), 8GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
For photography, there is a rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 0.3MP (VGA) camera for video calls and selfies. Features such as the Ultra Data Saving (UDS) mode and S Bike mode should also be onboard, however, the ‘My Money Transfer’ app is exclusive to India.
MTN Nigeria is also offering customers who buy the Samsung Z2 the chance to win free gifts and get 3GB of data for N1,000 (100% bonus offer).
