Music-Oriented Marshall London smartphone goes official

Marshall Headphones has announced Marshall London, a music-centric and the company’s first smartphone. The London smartphone costs 4,995 Swedish Krona (about $585) in Black-Matte colour only and while pre-orders are underway, the smartphone won’t arrive until 17th August with the company’s mode-in ear headphones bundled.

The Marshall London marks the company’s first foray into the smartphone markets and the company decided to oust a music-oriented phone. The phone comes with two front facing ACC Stereo speakers with bass and enhanced volume, tipping it as the loudest phone on earth. 

It comes with dual 3.5mm headphones jack so two people can be plugged in at the same time without getting in each other’s ways. It has a special Wolfson WM8281 Audio Hub version for audio playback at higher resolution, a M button on the top the phone opens your favourite music app, two MEMS microphones with active noise cancellation, a volume wheel, global audio equalizer and DJ app to turn your phone into a turntable.

Moving away from the sound features to the tech specs, the Marshall London sports a 4.7-inch HD IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and anti fingerprint coating. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and 16Gb space of internal storage. 

There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion. On the rear, there is a 8MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera for selfies et video chats. Connectivity options on London includes – 4G LTE, GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and micro USB. Sensor options includes – Accelerometer, ALS, E-Compass and Gyro.

The Marshall London measures 149.4 x 74.7 x 9.8 mm in dimensions, weighs around 145 grams, runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS with customised music applications and is backed by a removable 2500mAh battery.
