Blackberry has not pre-scheduled any event at the MWC but the company announced a new full touch smartphone which has surfaced in so many leaks.
The Blackberry Leap is the long rumoured smartphone with the codename – Blackberry Rio. It runs on Blackberry OS 10.3.1 which comes with Blackberry Assistant, Blackberry Blend, redesigned Blackberry Hub and Amazon Store for downloading Android apps.
Specs wise – the device uses a 5-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU with 2GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB).
To handle photography, there is a 8MP main camera with LED flash which is capable of recording 1080p videos and a front 2MP camera for video calls, Selfies; which also records 720p videos. Connectivity options on the Leap includes – GPS + GLONASS, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G LTE.
The Blackberry Leap is backed by a 2800mAh battery (non-removable) which guarantees about 25 hours of heavy battery usage. The device is priced at $275 (about N55,000 in Naira), available in Grey colour option only and would rollout globally by April starting from Europe.
