NCC: Nigeria’s Active Telecoms subscribers hits over 146 Million

Like every country which has its communication regulatory body, that of Nigeria is the NCC – Nigerian Communications Commission. The commission has announced that the active telecoms lines used by subscribers currently stood at around over 146 Million (real figure – 146,561,744) in the month of May.

According to data obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from NCC’s Monthly Subscriber Data. The new figure which stands at 146,561,744 for the month of May marks an additional 1,085,418 compared to the 145,476,326 for the month of April.

A huge chunk out of the total figure – 144,386,841 out of the total 146, 561,744 as expected are active GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) subscribers with the respective providers available in the country. GSM operators saw an increase of active subscribers by 1,329,607 compared to the 143,057,234 recorded for April.

Up next, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) subscribers saw a continuous decrease in active subscribers with 1,993,278 for the month of May; this figure is 241,024 less than the 2,234,302 recorded for April.

The monthly data also showed that Fixed Wireless/Wireless network active subscribers, despite seeing a decline now stands at 181,625 which is 3165 less than the 184,790 recorded for the month of April.
