NEC has officially announced the Lavie Hybrid Standard and Lavie Hybrid Advance 2-in-1 tablets. Both are powered by an Intel SoC and has been released in the Asian market (Japan). There are claims that Lenovo re-brand some NEC tablets especially the Lavie brands; so they could be available outside Japan eventually.
The NEC Lavie Hybrid Standard sports a 11.6-inch display and comes with a detachable keyboard dock which let’s it be used as a notebook. The resolution of the display is 1920 x 1080 pixels, runs on Windows 8.1 and is powered by an Intel Core M processor. It is available in two models – a basic model (HS350) with Intel Core M-5Y10C 800MHz and a more pricier model (HS550) with an Intel Core M-5Y71 processor clocked at 1.2GHz and comes with a digital pen.
It supports up to 4GB of RAM, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi , microSDXC card slot and 128GB space of storage. It is rather bulky and not really convenient to carry around at 800 grams/1.4Kg with the keyboard dock and measures 301 × 192 × 9.6 mm – 26.4mm in dimensions.
The NEC Lavie Hybrid Advance on the other hand is the bigger of the duo; it is a tablet-cum notebook with a 15.6-inch display which rotates 360-degrees and; can be used in different positions and forms. It also comes in two models – the HA750 with 1TB hard drive and Intel RealSense webcam; and the HA850 with 256GB SSD and Intel RealSense 3D camera.
Both models use between 8GB to 16GB of RAM, powered by an Intel Core i7-5500U processor, microSDXC card reader and runs on Windows 8.1 OS. Other key specs includes – 2 x USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, HDMI and JBL Stereo speakers. The NEC Lavie Hybrid Advance 383 × 256.5 × 22.3 mm in dimensions, weighs 2.3Kg but there is no word on the battery capacity.
