Japanese PC Maker, ‘NEC Computers ‘ or just NEC has announced a new 10″ tablet running Windows OS and has an Intel Atom x7 chipset humming under the hood. Dubbed the NEC LaVie Tab W, the slate has an active digitizer pen and a detachable keyboard.
The NEC LaVie W TW710 sports a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (FHD), powered by an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor clocked at 1.6GHz (burst speed up to 2.GHz) with built-in Intel HD graphics, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage space and a microSD card slot.
There is a front facing 1.2MP camera and a rear facing 5MP camera. The tablet alone measures 256.5 x 177 x 9.1mm in dimensions and weighs just under 600 grams (597grams) but this changes as soon as the Keyboard Dock is attached and the dimensions changes to 256.5 x 197.4 x 16.95 – 23.95mm accordingly and the weight shoots up to around 1.15kg.
Running Windows 10 Home OS (64-bit), the NEC LaVie Tab W is expected to last up to 11.5 hours on a single charge and has two 1W speakers. Connectivity options includes USB 3.0 port, Micro HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.
The NEC LaVie Tab W is expected to go on sale by mid-october in Japan for a price tag around $600 for the tablet only and an additional $100 for the Keyboard Dock.
