At the ongoing Lenovo Tech World event in Beijing, Lenovo has announced the next generation ThinkPad tablet – the New ThinkPad 10 business tablet. The slate is the first tablet to come with Windows 10 OS pre-installed and is expected to start selling in August for a price starting at $549.
The New Lenovo ThinkPad 10 doesn’t stray much from its predecessor in terms of specs. The device sports a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA IPS touch display with a pixel density of 224ppi, an aspect ratio of 16:10 and Anti-Glare Film for improved visibility in Brighht Sunlight. it is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Under the hood, it is powered by an Intel Atom processor – Intel Atom Z5800 or Intel Atom Z8700 quad-core processor paired with either 2GB or 4GB of RAM. Internal storage option the device is either 64GB or 128GB eMMC storage.
On the rear there is a 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash and a front facing 1.2MP fixed focus camera for selfies. Connectivity options on the New Lenovo ThinkPad 10 includes – Bluetooth, USB 3.0, front stereo speakers, micro HDMI, micro SD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and there is also 3G/4G LTE but it is not available for all models.
The ThinkPad 10 measures 256.5 x 177 x 9.1mm in dimensions, weighs 617 grams and is backed by a non-removable Li-Polymer battery which provides around 10 hours of battery life.
It also has accessories such as the ThinkPad 10 Folio Keyboard and Ultrabook Keyboard which allows it to used as a PC and there is a ThinkPad Tablet dock which gives it a more office like appearance. The ThinkPad Pen Pro is a stylus pen which helps you write on the device and covert handwriting into text thanks to the Lenovo WriteIT.
