Twitter has rolled out a major update across all its platforms – Twitter.com, Twitter for Android, Twitter for iOS, TweetDeck and Twitter Lite, which will arrive over the coming days and weeks. The new Twitter Design, according to the company, came about as a result of user feedback and ideas.
With the new update, Twitter now has a visual change intended for easy usability. Some of these include – the reduction of navigation tabs from five to four (Home, Search, Notifications and Direct Messages), new side navigation for access to settings, more intuitive icons and bolder headlines.

Asides from the changes in design, the update also features the following update:
- There is now an instant update to tweets, with ‘Like’, ‘Reply’, and ‘Retweet’ counts of each post in real time for mobile apps, so you can now see conversations and engagements of tweets
- Filters and stickers can now be added to your profile photo.
- Links now open in Safari instead of Twitter’s own browser. This means that you’re now easily logged into websites where you have an account. It also provides access to Reader View.
- Also, an additional accessibility choices such as increased colour contrast, more prominent access to settings and the ability to use Reader View to improve readability on websites which support it.
