Fresh off the some major announcements at the Build 2015 conference, Microsoft has released a new Windows Preview build – Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10074; which sees the word ‘Technical Preview’ replaced with ‘Insider Preview’.
The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10074 brings some improvements over previous builds, bug fixes and also has some bugs inherent on it. While some of the new features showed off at the Build conference are not yet includes, in future preview build it would be added.
The Aero Glass elements in the UI has returned and the UX is hugely improved with more improvements expected in upcoming builds. Continuum also receives some form of improvement and multi-tasking has gotten better with the Alt-Tab, Snap Assist and Task-View.
Main highlight has to be the deep integration of Cortana; it comes with a new visual design; it can be accessible from the Start button and several other places. Also Cortana can now answer random questions while the user is still typing thanks to Bing Answers. The rest of the update includes – updates for music and video preview apps, Xbox app (April 2015 update), Windows store beta improvements and discovering apps and features just got easier on Windows 10.
Known bugs from previous build fixed are launching Win32 (desktop) apps from the start menu, download music in Xbox music and video preview app and minimising an app playing audio without crashing. As this is still not the final build, it also comes with some bugs which should be fixed by the next build; bugs such as constant crash of the People app, inability of some games to play in full screen mode and inability of Developers to enter developers mode in the settings app.
