Along with the Xiaomi Mi TV 3, the company also announced a self-balancing, compact and lightweight scooter – the Ninebot Mini. It is available for a price tag of RMB 1999 ($315) in Black and White colour options.
The Ninebot Mini uses an Aerospace-grade magnesium alloy infrastructure, weighs about 12.8kg which makes it somewhat portable, has a very strong battery capacity which lets it go a very long distance (up to 22km) on a single charge. It can also be controlled from a smartphone just like other Mi products.
It goes on a speed up to 16km/h, inclines up to 15-inches and doesn’t need any special form of training to operate. The scooter is self-balancing so there is no need to be wary of falling, to move it forward or backwards, the user has to lean to body to that direction.
To move sideways (Right or left), the lower calf can be used to steer the direction lever. Those who purchase the Ninebot Mini get free 12 months personal insurance coverage worth up to 100 thousands and there are also protective accessories available for it which costs up to CNY 169 ($27).
The Ninebot Mini is a joint product by Xiaomi and Ninebot, the latter is now part of the Mi Ecosystem and also acquired a competitor in the same robotics engineering field, Segway, of recent (April 2015).
