Roughly two months after the release of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has ‘out of the blue’ announced a new handheld console. Launching on the same day as the Hey! PIKMIN and Miitopia, the New Nintendo 2DS XL fits somewhere btw the Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL (2015) systems. It sports the same 4.88-inch display found on the New 3DS XL and packs the same power, although the weight is lighter at 260 grams.
The handheld will arrive with built-in NFC support for Amibo (cards and figures), C-Stick, ZL and ZR buttons, and plays all Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games in 2D. It also has two (2x) outer camera and an inner camera (front). Some of the game titles linedup include – Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Kirby, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda.

Speaking on the launch, Nintendo of America’s President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime said;
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market. New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance.”
I may buy one of this for Nostalgia sake.
