HMD Global has teamed up with leading North American carriers – Verizon Wireless and Cricket Wireless to launch the Nokia 2 V and Nokia 3.1 Plus in the United States. The company also has a deal with Roger Communications to launch a new budget Nokia smartphone in Canada soon.
Nokia 2 V On Verizon
The Verizon-exclusive Nokia 2 V is the US-market version of the Nokia 2.1 and the specs are basically the same. It has a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB built-in expandable storage.
The smartphone also has 8MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, dual front-facing speakers and microSD card slot (supports up to 128GB cards). It is based on Android Oreo (Go Edition) and backed by a 4,000mAh battery, which promises up to 2 days of battery life.
Available in Blue and Silver colours, the Nokia 2 V will go on sale starting January 31 in Verizon stores and on VerizonWireless.com.
Nokia 3.1 Plus On Cricket Wireless
The Cricket-exclusive Nokia 3.1 Plus is slightly different from those released in some regions last year. This model has a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 13MP PDAF + 5MP dual rear cameras, 8MP selfie camera, rear fingerprint sensor, NFC, USB-C port and a 3,500mAh battery.
Rather than the Mediatek Helio P22 chipset, It is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage. It runs Android Pie and is already available for $159.99 in Cricket Wireless stores and on CricketWireless.com.
