HMD Global kicked off its MWC 2019 event with the launch of four new budget phones – the Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 210. The first three come pre-loaded with Android 9 Pie while the latter is a 2G feature phone running the S30+ OS.
Nokia 4.2 Android One
HMD Global continues its trend of Android One smartphones with the Nokia 4.2. It has a metal body frame with glass back, 5.71-inch HD+ 19:9 display with waterdrop notch, 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras with PDAF, rear fingerprint scanner, dedicated Google Assistant button and a 3,000mAh battery (non-removable). The Power button also acts as the notification light.
It packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor paired with 2 / 3GB of RAM and 16 / 32GB built-in storage. The 2GB + 16GB variant is available for US$ 169 while the 32GB is priced at US$ 199. Black and Pink Sand are the available colour options.
Nokia 3.2 Android One
Nokia 3.2 is the apparent successor to last year’s Nokia 3.1. It packs a notched 6.26-inch HD+ a-si TFT LCD 19:9 display, 13MP (f/2/2) rear camera, 5MP (f/2/2) selfie camera with Face Unlock, Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 SoC and a 4,000mAh battery with up to two days of battery life.
It also has a dedicated Google Assistant Button, 3.5mm audio jack, Hybrid Dual SIM, rear fingerprint scanner (32GB model only) and the power button acts as a notification light. The Nokia 3.2 is priced at US$ 139 for the 2GB + 16GB model and US$ 169 for the 3GB + 32GB model.
Nokia 1 Plus (Android Go Edition)
HMD’s latest Android Go Edition (Android 9 Pie) smartphone, the Nokia 1 Plus is the follow up to last year’s Nokia 1. It sports a bigger 5.45-inch FWVGA+ IPS 18:9 display, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP selfie camera and a 2,500mAH battery.
It is powered by MediaTek’s MT6739W 64-bit quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB built-in storage. The Nokia 1.1 Plus is priced at US$ 99 available in Single or Dual SIM models and Black, Blue and Red colour options.
Nokia 210 2G Feature Phone
Priced at $35, the Nokia 210 pack a 2.4-inches QVGA display, 16MB built-in storage, Dual SIM slots, micro USB port, rear VGA camera with LED flash and a removable BL-5C 1020mAh battery, which promises up to 20 days of standby time and 18 hours of talk time on a single charge.
The feature phone is powered by the MediaTek MT6260A processor and boots the S30+ operating system. It also has a MP3 Player, FM Radio, Snake game and apps such Facebook as well as a store for downloading apps and games. Charcoal, Grey and Red are the available colour options.
