Days ago, HMD Global introduced the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus at a global launch event in New Delhi, India. The duo are based on the already launched Nokia X6 and Nokia X5, which are the first set of Nokia phones to feature the trendy notched FullScreen display.
Nokia 6.1 Plus
The Nokia 6.1 Plus packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 400GB via microSD card). It sports a notched 5.8-inch Full HD+ LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The smartphone is equipped with 16MP (f/2.0) + 5MP (f/2.4) dual rear AI cameras and a 16MP (f/2.0) selfie camera. It also has a hybrid Dual SIM slot, rear fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm jack and a 3,060mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus also joins the long list of Nokia phones under Google’s Android One program and currently runs Android Oreo OS with promised upgrade to Android Pie before the year runs out. Pricing starts at Rs. 15,999 (~ $230 – 250) and it will go on sale from August 30 in Gloss Black, Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss White colours.
Nokia 5.1 Plus
The Nokia 5.1 Plus has the same notched 5.8-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio as the Nokia 6.1 Plus but a lesser HD+ resolution. It is powered by Mediatek’s Helio P60 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage (supports up to 400GB microSD cards).
It comes with 13MP (f/2.0) + 5MP dual rear AI cameras, front facing 8MP (f/2.2) camera with 80-degrees field of view and rear fingerprint sensor. It is also an Android One phone and backed by the same 3,060mAh battery. There is no word on pricing yet but it is expected to go on sale next month (September).
