Nokia Lumia 1020 allegedly coming to an end by September

According to recent reports, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is nearing the end of its journey as the phone will ceased to be produced again. The smartphone phone according to popular tipster – @evleaks will reach the end of its life span by September 14, 2014.

Nokia Lumia 1020 is one of the best Windows Phone around and it was launched July 2013, around 11 months ago. Its predecessor was the Nokia 808 Pureview while the Lumia 1020 runs on Windows Phone, the predecessor ran on Nokia’s best OS ever – Symbian OS. 

The main highlight of the Lumia 1020 is its 41-megapixels camera with Pureview technology and loseless zoom. The key specs also includes 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, 4.5-inch HD AMOLED display, Dual-core processor, front 1.2-megapixels camera, 4G LTE, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Headphone and non-removable 2000mAh Li-ion battery. 

By coming to an end, the Nokia Lumia 1020 would cease to considered as part of Nokia’s retail line-up and would no longer be produced. The update would however continue to get updates from Microsoft/Nokia as long as they wish.

Microsoft is also reportedly working on a successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020 codenamed McLaren. The McLaren is tipped heavily for a November release date. The Redmond company is also reported to be working on more high-end and mid-range devices.
