Official: Nokia X6 with 5.8-inch 19:9 Display, 6GB RAM, Dual Rear Cameras

HMD Global has officially announced the first smartphone from the all-new ‘Nokia X series for China’ at an event in Beijing. The Nokia X6 (not to be confused with the Nokia 6 or Nokia 6 2018) is the first smartphone from the Nokia brand to feature the trending notched (fullscreen) display design started by the Apple iPhone X.

Housed in glass body (95%) with aluminium metal frame, the Nokia X6 is fitted with a 5.8-inch (2280 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 19:9 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and packs a 3,060mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging (goes from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes).

On the inside, the smartphone relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 mobile platform paired with 4/6GB of RAM and 32/64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD). It supports dual 4G VoLTE connectivity and comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS (upgradable to Android P).

For photography, the X6 is equipped with a rear dual camera setup which comprises of a 16MP (RGB) primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.0um pixel size and dual-tone LED flash, paired with a 5MP (Monochrome) secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.2um pixel size.

The notch houses the front 16MP selfie camera with background blurs as well as stickers and support for AI Facial recognition. The smartphone also features a rear fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port (USB 2.0), 3.5 mm headphone jack and single speaker.

Available in Black, Blue and Silver colour options, the Nokia X6 will go on sale in China starting May 21st. The 4GB RAM with 32GB storage model sells for CNY 1,299 (USD 204) while the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage costs CNY 1,499 (USD 236). The top-end 6GB RAM with 64GB storage model goes for CNY 1,699 (USD 266).

PS: Also at the event, HMD Global’s Global Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas announced the opening of the Nokia Mobile Global Future Lab in Shenzhen. The new location becomes HMD Global’s global hub slotting in behind the HQ in Espoo (Finland) and London.
