Barnes & Noble has announced a new e-reader and the company’s first with a waterproof and Dustproof body – the NOOK Glowlight Plus. The device which is expected to rival the already announced Amazon Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Glo HD is available for $129.99 from the company’s website (NOOK.com) and Barnes & Noble stores for a price tag of $129.99.
The NOOK Glowlight Plus has a 6-inch (1430 x 1080 pixels) high resolution advanced e-ink display with a pixel density of 300ppi and other features such as fingerprint-resistant lens, anti-glare for quality reading experience. The processor used is not know but the device has 4GB of internal storage out of which 2.5GB is available to the user.
The e-reader supports Wireless connectivity only (Wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n), measures 163.6 x119.6 x 8.6 mm in dimensions weighs 195 grams and the information available suggests it can last up to six weeks of usage on a single charge.
The NOOK GlowLight Plus is also the first Barnes & Noble eReader to include B&N Readouts, a newly announced feature that brings the company’s popular bookstore browsing and content discovery to the NOOK digital experience.
