OnePlus co-founder and founder of Nothing, Carl Pei has announced the first product from his new UK-based Nothing tech start-up brand. The Nothing ear (1) is a new wireless earbud with familiar features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparent Mode, and the wireless charging case extends its battery life up to 34 hours of listening time with ANC off or 24 hours with ANC on.
One of the standouts of the 4.7g weighing ear (1) is its transparent design which shows some of its inner components. Each ear has a corresponding colour-code (Red or White) and comes fitted with a powerful 11.6mm dynamic driver and spacious air chamber for advanced performance (bass, mid and treble). The earbuds’ sound has been fine-tuned by Swedish consumer electronic company, teenage engineering, who are known for a wide range of products including electronics and synthesizers.
The clear voice technology combined with three HD microphones to offer ANC and amplify the user’s voice during calls. Nothing ear (1) is compatible with both Android (Android 5.1 and above) and iOS (iOS 11 and above) and connects via Bluetooth (v5.2). It offers in-ear detection like the AirPods Pro as well as Google Fast Pairing (compatible devices), IPX4 rating (Splash proof) and the accompanying app offers extras such as Find My Earbuds and EQ presets.
The ear (1) is priced at $99 / £99 / €99 and sales will commence on August 17 across 45 countries including the US and UK. The pricing puts it within the range of the Google Pixel Buds A, OnePlus Buds, and Amazon Echo Buds.
