ZTE’s Nubia sub-brand has launched a new interesting dual-screen smartphone – the nubia X. It packs a notch-free all-screen display and avoids the sliding mechanism used on newly released smartphone such as Xiaomi Mi MiX 3, Lenovo Z5 Pro and Honor Magic 2 by using two screens – one on the front and the other on the back.
The nubia X has a main 6.26-inch (2560 x 1080 pixels) FHD+ IPS LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a rear, smaller 5.1-inch OLED display with (1520 x 720 pixels) HD+ resolution. The main display has a rare 93.6% screen-to-body ratio and both are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The rear display brings professional grade eye protection experience and can be personalised to perform various tasks including serving as extra buttons when gaming. Photography is handled only by the rear 16MP (f/1.8) + 18MP (f/1.6) cameras with PDAF, Dual LED flash, NeoVision 8.0 and AI smart scene.
The nubia X boots Android 8.1 Oreo OS with nubia 6.0 UI + ET evolution tensor and rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB/256GB built-in storage (non-expandable). It is also equipped with a multi-layered graphene heat spreader and fingerprint sensors on both hand sides.
The rest of the features include: USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0 and no 3.5mm audio jack. Power is supplied by a 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 (9V/2A) and NeoPower 3.0. The base model (6GB + 64GB) costs CNY 3,299 (US$ 470) and the 8GB + 128GB model costs CNY 3,699 (US$ 600). Black Gold, Deep Gray and Sea Light are the available colour options.
