Oculus Rift with Xbox One Controller to go on sale next year

Facebook and Oculus VR have officially announced the consumer version of the Rift virtual reality headset, simply called the Oculus Rift. The Rift first debuted as a prototype about three years ago, the VR now promises to deliver consumer virtual reality and next-generation VR gaming.

The Oculus Rift features a Dual AMOLED display that offers a wide field of view, clarity and great clarity. The headset now has integrated Audio VR and a pair of built-in 360-degree audio headphones which can be replaced with your favourite.  

The headset is now much lighter, there is a dial which let’s you adjust the lenses to your desired and for added comfort the headset is covered with cloth. There is also an external sensor which can be placed on the desk.

The Oculus Rift will be paired with the wireless Xbox game controller when it arrives in the box and wireless Pc receiver. Oculus has also partnered with Microsoft to ensure the device works well with Windows 10 running games when the OS goes official in July. Rift users would be able to stream games like Halo, Sunset OverDrive and Forza from the Xbox to the VR headset.

Asides pairing the gamepad, Oculus has also introduced Oculus Touch, a handheld motion-tracking haptic controllers which would let you interact with the VR headset naturally. The Oculus Rift would start shipping by Q1 2016 and the price tag is rumoured to be around the $1500 mark (or less than). 

Oculus has pushed fellow competitors to fast-track their products for early next year. HTC’s Hive, Sony’s Morpheus and the Avegant Glyph are all expected to launch late this year or early next year.
