Yesterday, OnePlus announced the OnePlus 5T flagship at a scheduled event in Brooklyn, New York. The successor to this year’s OnePlus 5 not only brings a bigger screen, better and improved camera and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, it is also the first smartphone from the brand with a FullScreen display.
The OnePlus 5T retains the familiar metal unibody design but sports a bigger 6.01-inch Optic AMOLED display with 2160 x 1080 pixels (Full HD+) resolution, 18.9 aspect ratio, 80.5% screen-to-body ratio, supports sRGB, DCI-P3 and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover.
The fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back to accommodate the bigger display and there is a new Face unlock feature which uses the face to unlock the device in just 0.4 sec. It boots a new OxygenOS (based on Android Nougat OS) which includes features such as Parallel Apps and OnePlus Switch.
The smartphone features the same 16MP (Sony IMX398) primary camera with a large f/1.7 aperture, 1.12μm pixel size and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) but the secondary telephoto lens has been replaced with a 20MP (Sony IMX376K) ‘low-light’ camera with f/1.7 aperture and 1.0μm pixel size.
The OnePlus 5T’s camera is fully optimized for low-light and portrait photography, and arrives with the Intelligent Pixel Technology feature found on the OnePlus 3T. Like the OnePlus 5, it comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage.
