OnePlus has unveiled its new flagship – the OnePlus 6T at a launch event in New York. The latest model, which brings slight changes over the OnePlus 6, has support for 233 carriers in 74 countries and is the first from the Chinese company to launch via a US Carrier – T-Mobile.
The OnePlus 6T features an in-display fingerprint sensor (Screen Unlock) with 0.34s unlock time as well as Face Unlock with 0.4s unlock time. It is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform as the OnePlus 6 but the base storage has increased from 64GB to 128GB.
It has a glass body with aluminium frame, waterdrop notch, 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with 86% screen-to-body ratio and the 3.5mm headphone jack has been done away with. It also boots Android 9.0 Pie OS with OxygenOS 9.0 and backed by a 3,700mAh battery with Fast Charge.
The device has the same camera setup as its predecessor but features a new Nightscape mode (available via a future software update) – which recognises night scenes and delivers brighter, more vivid images with more clarity and less noise. It also has Full Screen Gestures 2.0 for faster and smoother navigation, and Smart Boost mode to enjoy 20% faster loading times in games.
OnePlus also confirmed plans to launch a 5G smartphone next year. Available in Midnight Black and Mirror Black colour options, the OnePlus 6T will roll out in the US via T-Mobile from November 1 and in Europe from November 6.
