OnePlus recently unveiled its new premium flagship devices – the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Both smartphones offer 5G multi-gigabit connectivity thanks to the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System on the chipset and are designed with the 5th-gen matte frosted glass, which use a new degree of haze to achieve unprecedented smooth and fine texture. OnePlus is offering both devices in Glacial Green, Interstellar Glown(8 Only), Onyx Black and Ultramarine Blue (8 Pro only) colourways.
OnePlus 8 Pro
Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, the OnePlus 8 Pro is built around a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED 3D curved display with 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1300nits peak brightness, MEMC and HDR10+ support. The 3.8mm diameter-sized punch hole on the top front left corner holds the 16MP (f/2.45, 1.0µm) selfie camera with screen flash and Face unlock features.
On the back, the phone has a quad camera setup with a 48MP (f/1.78, 1.12µm, OIS, EIS) main camera with – 12MP (2.24µm) 4-in-1-pixel binning. This paired with an 8MP (f/2.44, 1.0µm, OIS, 3× hybrid zoom) telephoto lens, 48MP (f/2.2, 120° FOV) ultra-wide-angle lens and 5MP (f/2.4) color filter lens. The whole setup has a dual LED flash and multi Autofocus (All pixel omni-directional PDAF + LAF+ CAF).
The 8 Pro packs up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage with Turbo Write, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, USB 3.1 GEN1 Type-C, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, IP68-rating and depends on a 4,510mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T Fast Charging (5V/6A) and 30W Wireless Charging. In terms of pricing, the 8GB + 128GB model (Glacial Green) costs USD 899 / GBP 799 and the 12GB + 256GB model (Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black) sells for USD 999.
OnePlus 8
The OnePlus 8 sports a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio 1100nits peak brightness, automatic brightness control with 4096 levels, HDR10/10+ support and 3D corning Gorilla Glass covering. Photography is handled by a triple camera system with a primary 48MP (f/1.75, 0.8µm, OIS, EIS) primary camera aided by a 2MP (f/2.4, 1.75µm) macro and 16MP (f/2.2, 116° FOV) wide-angle lens. According to OnePlus, it is one of the most compact and lightweight 5G phones around (8mm thin, 180 grams). Power is supplied by a 4,300mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T.
The rest of the specs is pretty much the same as the same as the Pro model. The 8GB + 128GB model (Glacial Green) is available for USD 699 / GBP 599 while the 12GB + 256GB model (Interstellar Glow) costs USD 799. In the US, OnePlus is partnering with Verizon to release the OnePlus 8 5G UW – this device will operate exclusively on Verizon’s 5G Ultra-Wide band network.
Bullets Wireless Z
At the OnePlus 8 Series launch event, the company also unveiled the Bullets Wireless Z in-ear headphones. The latest Bullets model delivers 10 hours of audio playback on just 10 minutes of charge and 20 hours of battery life on a full charge. It charges via USB-C and pack features such as Tap to Connect, Quick Pair, Quick Switch and Magnetic Control. Pricing is set at USD / GBP 49.95.
