OnePlus introduces On-Guard insurance plan for OnePlus X and OnePlus 2

OnePlus has joined the list of smartphone makers having insurance plans for their smartphone. The Chinese company has announced the OnePlus On-Guard Protection plan for the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X in Europe. The plan is expected to extend to the North American markets (US and Canada) soon.

The OnePlus On-Guard covers accidental damages, breakage, vandalism, liquid damages, damage due to dropping the device and more; the insurance is handled by Simplesurance in Europe and looking at the costs (€39.99 for 12 months and €64.99 for 24 months); it costs lesser than most protection plans around say Nexus Protect or Apple’s AppleCare.

Disappointedly, the plan is only available to newly purchased OnePlus smartphones via EU stores on oneplus.net and non-existent for the company’s firse smartphone ever – the OnePlus One as well for those who have purchased the OnePlus 2 prior to the introduction of the policy.

The service has been available starting November 2 in the EU and other markets will follow suit soon. The company also mentioned the OnePlus Service2 and Protect2 for India which is more of a regional service. The service will be handled by B2X and is expected to cost around Rs 999 (approx $15).
