Mol Japan, operating under the Onkyo brand has released a new 10-inch tablet called the Onkyo TA2C-74Z8. It has been available on pre-order since April 29th for a price tag of JPY 29,000 (US$ 271) excluding tax and deliveries are tipped to start by May 9th. It is sold directly from the Onkyo Digital Solutions website.
Although the name isn’t one of the best in the market, the Onkyo TA2C-74Z8 sports a 10.1-inch LED-backlight LCD display with 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio and packs a 7000mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery which should deliver up to 6.5 hours of battery life. It measures 254 × 165 × 10.5 mm in dimensions, weighs in at 640 grams and sports a metal body with silver paint finish.
On the inside, it is powered by the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor clocked at 1.44GHz (burst speed up to 1.84GHz) with Intel HD Graphics, 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space. For photography, there is a front facing 2MP camera and a rear facing 5MP camera. The slate is equipped with two USB Type-A ports (USB 3.0 × 1 + USB 2.0 × 1), micro HDMI × 1 port and micro USB port for charging.
Connectivity options onboard include Bluetooth 4.1 and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. On the software side, the Onkyo TA2C-74Z8 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and the UI is similar to that of Acer devices.
