Oppo Egypt is reportedly planning to invest around USD$13 million (EGP 100 million) in its operating. The Chinese originated OEM, is expected to spend the aforementioned amount, hire around 1000 Egyptians and possibly build factories in parts of the country not mentioned yet.
Speaking at the launch of its brand in Egypt, Oppo’s Executive Director, Sky Lee mentioned the possibility of establishing factories in the country depending on the targeted sales rate in the country is achieved. While no rate was stated, the company is targeting to hire around 1000 Egyptians which would make around 90% of the total staff of the company coupled with added Chinese experts from the company.
Oppo Launched not one but four smartphones in Egypt – the Oppo Joy, Oppo N3, Oppo Neo 3 and Oppo R5. This news would be welcomed in Egypt as the country has seen little grown in its IT sector since 2011 and has a very high level of unemployment rate.
With around 30 million Internet connected users and a population of around 84 million coupled with over 4 years of political unrest in the country, this might be just what Egypt needs.
