It doesn’t have to be a flagship smartphone always, right? Oppo has decided to announce not just one but two new midrange smartphones into the market. The Oppo Neo 5 2015 and the Oppo Neo 5s as they are known have almost the same specs except in some aspects.
The Neo 5 2015 is an upgrade to the Oppo Neo 5 smartphone which was announced last year while the Oppo Neo 5s is a little bit ahead as it has a better processor (Snapdragon), eye protecting display technology and more storage.
The Oppo Neo 5s is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU and regional support for 4G LTE while the Oppo Neo 5 (2015) is powered by a quad-core MT6582 SoC with dual-core Mali-400MP2 GPU and no support for 4G LTE.
The Neo 5s also has an eye protecting technology which comes with Oppo ColorOS – it filters out harmful rays that emits from the display due to very long usage of the device.
The Oppo Neo 5 2015 uses 1GB of RAM, 4GB space of internal storage and comes with a microSD card slot which supports up to 32GB more storage. The Oppo Neo 5s on the other hand also uses 1GB of RAM but the internal storage is now 8GB and has a microSD card slot which expands storage up to 128GB.
Both smartphone model sports a 4.5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) IPS display which results in a pixel density of 218ppi, weighs 135 grams and measures 131.9 x 65.5 x 8.0mm in dimensions. Both smartphone model are backed by a 2000mAh battery, has a rear facing 8MP f/2.2 camera with LED flash, front facing 2MP f/2.8 camera and run on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with Oppo ColorOS v2.0.1 ontop.
There is no word on availability and pricing for both smartphone but due to some specs difference the Oppo Neo 5s is expected to be pricier than the Oppo Neo 5 2015. Both smartphones would come in Crystal White and Sapphire Blue colour options.
