Late in 2020, OPPO unveiled three variants of the Reno5 5G smartphone in China. The company is now starting off the new year with the launch of a 4G model in a market outside China (Vietnam). The OPPO Reno5 4G shares most of the characteristics of the original, however, there is no 5G connectivity due to the change in processor from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 7nm mobile platform to the Snapdragon 720G 8nm mobile platform.
The Reno5 4G has the same 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and in-display fingerprint scanner. The quad rear camera configuration remains the same – a 64MP (f/1.7, EIS) main sensor paired with an 8MP (f/f2.2) ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP (f/2.4) monochrome lens. The front camera in the punch-hole has been upped to a 44MP (f/2.2) snapper.
It comes pre-loaded with ColorOS 11.1 (based on Android 11) and comes in a single configuration: 8GB LPDDR4x RAM + 128GB storage space. Power is supplied by a 4,300mAh battery with 50W fast charging support but comes with a 65W charger and also supports USB Power Delivery PPS. The rest of the specs include microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD and LDAC but not NFC. The OPPO Reno5 4G is open for pre-orders in Vietnam for a price tag starting at VND 8,690,000 (~ USD 375/ EUR 310) and shipping begins in January 9.
