OPPO has announced the launch of its latest Reno series smartphones – the Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G in China. Both devices come pre-loaded with ColorOS 11.1 (based on Android 11) and offer 5G connectivity, however, the basic model is powered by the Snapdragon 765G 7nm EUV Mobile Platform while the Pro model features the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 7nm processor.
The OPPO Reno5 5G has a 6.43-inch FHD+ 2.5D OLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, 430 nits typical and 600 nits peak brightness, and 91.7% screen-to-body ratio while the Pro model has a slightly bigger 6.55-inch FHD+ 3D OLED display with the same refresh rate, 500 nits typical and 800 nits peak brightness, and 92.1% screen-to-body ratio. Both are available with either 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.1) storage or 12GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage, 32MP (f/2.4) selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor.
Photography on the duo is handled by a quad rear camera setup made-up of a 64MP (f/1.7) primary lens with LED flash, 8MP (f/2.2, 119°) ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens and 2MP (f/2.4) mono portrait lens. The basic model has a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, NFC, and depends on a 4300mAh battery with 65W Super Flash Charge (SuperVOOC 2.0) fast charging. For differentiation, the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G uses the USB Type-C audio and packs a 4,350mAh battery with the same charging tech.
Pricing and Availability
The Reno5 5G is priced starting at CNY 2,699 (8GB + 128GB) and CNY 2,999 (12GB + 256GB), while pro model costs CNY 2,399 (8GB + 128GB) and CNY 3,799 (12GB + 256GB) respectively. They will officially go on sale in China from December 18th and arrive in Aurora Blue, Glitter Blue, and Midnight Black colours. To round-up the year, the company has plans to sell the Reno5 Pro 5G New Year Edition (Red colour) from December 29th.
