Few days ago, Oppo teased the official announcement of the Oppo U3 and today it has finally gone official. Most of the specs of the device has been partially detailed in series of leaks but now we now have first hand information on the device.
Upon all the hype surrounding the device which claims it would sport a 4x Optical Zoom; the device didn’t have the feature but comes with a fixed focal length lens.
Specs-wise, the phablet sized Oppo U3 features a 5.9-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display, powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor which clocks at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of expandable internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for additional storage.
The phablet is backed by a 3000mAh battery which also comes with quick charging (VOOC Quick Charging Tech) which lets the battery charge up to 75% in 30 minutes.
Photography is handled by a rear facing 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor capable of 1080p video recording and a 5MP front facing camera with wide angle glass and LED flash. The Oppo U3 runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with Color OS 2.1; measures 156.8 x 81 x 8mm, weighs 195 grams , supports 4G LTE/3G and comes with Dual SIM support.
For a better audio experience, Oppo incorporated the AK4961 audio chip which means the device can deliver Hi-Fi audio output. The company also showcased a useful case accessory – the Rabbit Tail case which makes holding the device easier.
The Oppo U3 would be available in Dark Blue and White Colour option. There is no word on pricing yet but it won’t take long before it goes on sale.
