Orange launches the Firefox OS 2.0 running Orange Klif in Kenya

Firefox in collaboration with Orange Telekom has launched the low-end Orange Klif in Kenya. The Klif is the first first Firefox OS smartphone in Kenya but Firefox OS smartphones arrived in the continent through South Africa in collaboration with MTN.

The Orange Klif digital offer is available for a price tag of Ksh 3999 ($40) and is bundled with a smartphone, data, text and voice calling bundles. The Klif smartphone is designed by Alcatel, also known as the Alcatel OneTouch Orange Klif. 

The low-end smartphone is already available in countries like Egypt, Cameroon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Botswana, Niger, Madagascar, Jordan and Vanatu. 

The Orange Klif smartphone features a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) HVGA display, powered by a Dual-core processor clocked at 1.0Ghz paired with 256MB of RAM and 512MB space of expandable internal storage. 

The rest of the Orange Klif specs includes – 2MP rear camera with LED flash, 3G HSPA+ connectivity, GPS. FM Radio, Firefox OS v2.0,  and is backed by a 1300mAh battery which provides around 810 hours of standby time. 

Orange earlier this year launched the Ksh 999 ($10) priced Orange Kaduda Dual SIM feature phone in Kenya in February. The device has gone on to sell over 500,000 units since launch. At the moment, the Orange Klif is seemingly to be cheapest Dual SIM smartphone in Kenya at the moment.
