Lesser-known Chinese device maker, Oukitel has a new entry-level smartphone – the Oukitel U7 Max. The device, which has no 4G LTE support and boots the dated Android Marshmallow, is a toned down version of the Oukitel U7 Plus and is currently available on pre-order for a starting price tag of $64.99.
Available in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold & Space Grey colour options, the Oukitel U7 Max has the same 5.5-inch IPS display and 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution as the Oukitel U7 Plus. It is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6580A 64-bit processor clocked at 1.0GHz paired with 1GB of RAM.
Internal storage stands at 8GB and the microSD card slot on-board supports expansion up to 32GB more. Photography is handled by a rear facing 8MP camera (interpolated to 13MP) and a front facing 2MP camera (interpolated up to 5MP). The camera detects the V gesture to automatically capture photos.
The Oukitel U7 Max is backed by a 2500mAh battery with 5A/1V charger, offers 6 letter access to direct functions or app (draw ‘C’ for phone calls; draw ‘e’ for browser; draw ‘w’ to start settings; draw ‘z’ to start clock; draw ‘o’ to start Youtube; draw ‘v’ to start gallery)’ and adds a 3-colour LED notification light between the sensors (Proximity, Gravity and Light) and receiver.
The U7 Max is modelled after the Oukitel U7 Plus, which has a fingerprint sensor (360-degree), 4G LTE support, quad-core Mediatek MT6737 64-bit processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage.
