Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 Android Smartphone With 1-Inch Camera Sensor Launched

Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-CM1, an hybrid between a smartphone and compact camera. The device could be compared with the Galaxy K Zoom from Samsung but with significant differences as the device is more camera than smartphone.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 dons a 20MP sensor with with an f/2.8 Leica DC Elmarit lens. The camera is backed by the Venus engine; records 4k videos, comes with a mechanical shutter and a manual control ring. The highlight of the device is its 1-inch MOS Type 20MP sensor which is similar to the sensor found on the Sony RX10.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 features a 4.7-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) Full-HD display, powered by a Qualcomm Snadragon 801 Soc clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, up to 128GB via microSD card slot and runs on Android 4.4 kitkat OS. The device also supports 4G LTE networks, voice calling and is powered by a 2600mAh battery.

The device measures 135.4 x 68 x 21.1mm, weighs 204grams and also has 4k related applications for stills – ‘4K pre-burst’ and ‘4K PhotoCapture’. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 would debut in France and Germany later this year with no word yet on pricing.

Panasonic over the past two months has launched about five smartphones into the indian market. The company announced the Panasonic T41, P41 and P61 Dual-SIM Android KitKat smartphones and the company followed it up with the launch of the Panasonic Eluga U and Panasonic Eluga A.
